can't buy ammo and gun at the same time
That's what an associate of mine told me. She lives in West Virginia,( that's where I work. ) Anyway her dad Bought a mossberg 22 lr from The Wal Mart there. He wanted to buy a box of 9mm rounds for his carry piece. And, With 2 Manager's standing right next to the clerk, He said it's against federal law to sell guns and ammo at the same time. Her dad just laughed at that . ANd left.

Re: can't buy ammo and gun at the same time
Walmart seems to like making up their own federal laws. I seem to remember on WM saying it was a federal law that ammo couldn't be sold after 10pm.

Could be a store policy, and there's nothing wrong with private policies on private property. Just tread on other private property when spending your dollars.
Plus, I always demand some free ammo when purchasing a new rifle or pistol...

so because they are saying it's "federal law" does that mean they're implying that this law is applied EVERYWHERE? If so that is amusing. I bought ammo when I traded my taurus for my glock. My husband bought it when he bought my son's rifle just last weekend.

Re: can't buy ammo and gun at the same time
Well once again Wal Mart shows their stupidity (GOD I HATE THAT STORE)... had it been me I would have said the following:
Well then, since it seems Wal Mart staff and management haven't clue one what the laws about guns are you can take that rifle AND all my other business and stick it up Wal Mart's ASS!
And trust me, if you don't think I wouldn't say it just ask my wife how many stores, businesses and customers have heard damn near the same thing!

Re: can't buy ammo and gun at the same time
Yeah, get this. A few years ago, I bought a ruger 10/22 at walmart. They would not sell me ammo at the same time either. They actually had a manager walk me to the door after I purchased the 10/22. They said it was a store policy and that they had to escort every gun purchaser to the door after the purchase. The manager told me that I could put the gun in the car and then come back into the store and buy the ammo. I asked him if that made any sense at all to him. He said again, it was store policy. I have not bought another gun at walmart since. I felt like a criminal being escorted out of the store.
