Thumbs up Clearing jams, a drill:

We've all heard of tap rack bang, but what does it really mean?

Tap..ie hit the mag base upwards, on the bottom to make SURE it's well seated

Rack'...rack the slide to eject [hopefully] the jammed round. Let the slide slam home..do NOT drag it

    3. bang..self evident

OK..but what about the dreaded double feed jam..we've all seen one, even you guys who shoot $2500 45s occasionally get one. I've had a few muself ..LOL not funny

    The video link isn't working.

Tap rack bang will clear most malfunctions, but not a double feed. If you pull the trigger and nothing happens, run through tap rack bang. If you pull the trigger and nothing happens again, you can assume that you have a double feed. At that point, drop the mag and either:

    1) stick the mag between the pinky and ring/middle fingers of your firing hand, and clear the chamber by racking the slide three or four times, then reinsert the mag, rack the slide one last time and then go back to shooting

    2) stick the mag in your pocket, and clear the chamber by racking the slide three or four times, retrieve the mag from your pocket and reinsert in back into the pistol, rack the slide to chamber a round and commence shooting or,

    3) drop the mag, retain the mag, cycle the the slide to clear it, draw and load a FRESH mag, chamber a round and go back to work.

The first option is fastest, and is what I employ. To simulate a double feed on the range, load two snap caps in a row. Better yet, have a buddy load them.

ETA: I don't know if this was a question, or a story at the link. I didn't click on it. Either way, that's how you do it.
