    Default Lucky friend

A buddy of mine just came into some guns from a family member. He asked to me to have a look. I had never personally seen this before, but I have heard plenty about them. Trying to attach pic. I assume it's not worth much because the price list with it lists it at about $220. That doesn't seem like much especially when we're talking about a pistol and four barrels in the original case and in such nice shape!

What do you all think the value is? He's not letting it go. I already asked, and so did another member here. Had to wipe the drool off of it from that guy!

    Editing, stand by!

If it's a revolver and it says Dan Wesson on it, I can see why the person you showed it to is drooling.

Gunbroker time for pricing and to sell it.

Also, a question. What is the device in the top right corner of the photo of the pistol? Looks to be a guide rod or something similar.

There is a spare barrel there in the pic that isn't for this gun. Forgot to pick it up before taking the picture.

Original Dan Wessons (especially the full kit like this) have become very collectible. During their time they were a nich market. Many buyers would pass thinking they were inferior to S&W.

It appears your friend has the original grips, factory paperwork, and condition is great. I have seen 4 barrel sets sell in the $1,000 to $1,200 range over the past few years.

Nice find, tell him if he changes the barrels to be sure and set the cylinder gap. There was a feeler type gauge included with the kit, if it is gone I am sure that the info. is out there.
The reason that most shops shied away from used DW's was that too many had the internals damaged when changing barrels. For some reason many dis-regarded the manual and got the barrel against the cylinder. We had the chance to buy a couple but both had timing trouble.

This one came from a old guy that really knew guns. Feeler gauge, barrel nut, paperwork, everything is there. Just can't id the one tool. He had other nice pieces too. Model 29, combat masterpieces , a couple of 'minor' pieces. He won't sell!
