Re: New to PA
That's going to depend on some variables. Hang tight Marine, some smart folks will be along shortly to see what they can untangle here.
Give them a little aid by having as much information as possible. Actual charge...statute numbers, docket numbers, juristiction, dates, anything that gives a clear picture of the outcome. Try doing a search using your name DOB, etc on any court system data base available in the state where the event took place.
Good luck. I'll assume all of us here are on your side on this. A minor event decades ago coupled with a life of accountability since should never strip one of a right. When the SHTF......be the fan.

Re: New to PA
Good job getting that info lined up. Usually someone comes on with halfassed stories, no data, omitted information, unsure of dates, etc.
I'm going to try and steer a couple of people this way for you. They'll have much better experience with this than I do.When the SHTF......be the fan.

Re: New to PA
Welcome to PAFOA!
Lotsa GIs here: active, retired and vets, Lotsa "never served" great people here.
Also lotsa "less desirables" monitoring and posting here.
Erswnn is on the job and he's good folks. Let him work a bit. If he needs help he will ask for it.
Trying to buy a gun or get a LTCF and lying on the forms is a Big Ole No No - to the tune of a felony. Entering incorrect information is a Lie per the rules.
Checking here first is very smart.
Please don't post any more details about your case/efforts until you hear from Erswnn.
Clickin on a username pops open a menu that allows private messages or emails. That's the preferred way to discuss specifics, out of the public eye.
again welcome and ask any other questions anytime.Last edited by markshere2; March 30th, 2015 at 05:53 PM.

Re: New to PA
A PM is in your box, the advice that best suits your situation is in it. The author wishes to remain private as does the other member I contacted. I'm not sure why but since it's none of my business I'll not be asking the particulars
It seems the best avenue is to contact a lawyer with knowledge of specific penalties related to the conviction in 1993, a name was included in the PM.
http://www.legis.state.pa.us/WU01/LI...1.005.000..HTM
The above link is the current law in PA. It's fairly confusing. This needs to be mated to the NJ laws of 1993, further complicating the issue at hand. Thus the advice of seeking a lawyer to assure your nest step.
Please, let us know what you're going to do and how it's proceeding. When the SHTF......be the fan.

Re: New to PA
Semper Fi,
I think you best get a gun lawyer in PA to advise you since PA will be the licensing state. Phil Kline, known on this forum as GunLawyer001, has proven to be a very capable and knowledgeable attorney in the area of PA gun laws. I would suggest that you PM him and ask for a consultation. Finding out about the documentation of your NJ conviction is one thing, but presenting your application for a PA LTCF is quite another. You are dealing with PA Law and NJ documentation. Get a PA lawyer. I suspect he could get the NJ info you need without too much trouble or expense. The expense is like an investment if you want to CC. Pay now and be free for life.
