I use to spend a lot of time on the Delphi forums. I logged in today and searched forums for the word gun. One of the forums that came up is called "pulling to the left". Maybe I am just use to this forum where the majority of posters normally put forward rational arguements for their positions whether I agree with them or not but the total irrationally of the anti in the post below dumbfounded me.

The thread below talking about "assault weapons" just had me shaking my head. The antis argument basically boils down to "gun people are delusional by default, and I am going to completly ignore any rational arguments and facts by getting emotional and and disputing your facts by calling you delusional and a gun cultist". I thought some people might get a kick out of reading some posts by a stereotypical anti.

Ok, I'm back...I made it out alive.

Yes, I've seen/heard this type of argument before. Even engaged in a couple. For the weakminded there is no real argument, no back-and-forth trading of points, no acceptance of clear facts.

I liked the response one dolt made about the two rifles pictured. He claims the top one is a regular sight for hunting in MN, the other is not. As we know, they are both 10/22s. These are the people we are debating.

I have generally stopped such debating, getting through is so rare. I know the legality of guns, I know that indeed, some of mine are designed to kill....it's part of why I own them. An 870 Super Express Magnum isn't for plinking. No matter how hard I try, my counterpart wants to insist I am bloodthirsty even though I have never used a gun for violence. He/she insists I condone the actions of Lanza or Holmes.

The best one was an anti who hoped me and my family would be killed in a violent manner. Yes, they expressed their desire that we be killed. Because they don't like guns.
