Default Reading Walmart, Super Petz, and Taco bell. O.C. safe!!

My daughter loves animals so i decided to get her a hampster for no reason other than to spoil her. Packed the two kids in the car and then picked up my 14yr old sister and her friend to get them away from my mother for awhile. Hit superpetz, ended up getting 2 fancy rats instead of a hampster because apparently hampsters are very mean to children with rats being very intelligent and rather docile. Thier names are Strawberry and Boogie Picker. naturally my 4 year old sons rat is the one named Boogie Picker and my daughters rat is Strawberry. So we spend about an hour in there picking up a pen and some other assorted rat "gear". A guy i went to vo-tech with in high school happened to be there and we had a nice little talk about O.C. nothing too involved, just a hi, how have you been, didnt know you were into guns, and then i gave him a flyer. After that, we hit taco bell for some grub. Lots of wierd looks from the homies but thats pretty normal. Walmart was my last stop to look for a new pair of hiking boots, i went into this one assuming that i would get hasseled but miraculously i made it in and out (sadly without any new boots) with not even a glance. In hindsight, i think having my kids with me when i O.C. allows the strangers around me to feel more relaxed. I am definatly going to go in there again without children and see how that turns out. Anyways, had a nice day, kids are happy with thier new pets, and we have a few more buisnesses on the list.

+1 on all three of those locations for OC, been there myself. Actually, cant think of a single business Ive been to on the 5th St that even seemed anti-gun. Had good convos with clerks at the Sheetz, Blockbusters, and Goodwills. The Commerce there had been my regular branch for a bit, and have never had a second look.

Also +1 on rats over hampsters. Freind of mine's 6yr old daughter has two fancy rats that are surprisingly social and interactive. All I remember of freinds hampsters from being a kid is they either ran away, bit you, or pooped on you.

Cool Re: Reading Walmart, Super Petz, and Taco bell. O.C. safe!!

When I open or concealed carry my friends that are with me say they feel safer. Also I have had people who know me ask if I'm packing. If I see them out in public. I guess some people need to know that if something would happen they might have a chance. to survive an bad encounter.

    This is a great post.

This post reminds me of a question I had though. A lot of us have posted various places that we have been while OCing. And if no one hassled us, the place is said to be gun friendly or OC friendly. If no one sees it, or at least no one important sees it, that doesn't really make the establishment OC friendly. Right?

Good report, and good choice in rodents.

Everytime I buy a rat or two they get eaten by my snake...

But then I guess that is the reason I buy them...

Congrats on the new pets and hope to see you around although I stay clear of the 5th st area.

Congrats on your pets I guess....I couldn't have rats in my home. We have hamsters and that's bad enough for me. They're FILTHY! Our kids have two Chineese Dwarf hamsters and ironically my daughter is torturing one as I type this. No really, she is 5 years old and they are surprisingly tolerant of her carrying them around in assorted containers and driving them around in little cars etc. They almost seem to enjoy the "abuse". We spent a long time talking to the guy at the store though and he explained that they really were the nicest ones and slow moving etc. for little kids to handle. A panda hamster would have been an option too if he hadn't dropped it on the floor... +6 for the OC.
