    Default Allentown man killed in alleged home invasion

    Nah, you don't need to carry your gun with you around your own home.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    A 47-year-old Allentown man was shot in the face and killed during a home invasion and attempted robbery as he sat with his wife in his kitchen having coffee, according to family members.
    David M. Walterick died of a gunshot wound at 3:02 a.m. today at his home at 937 Pine St., Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said in a news release.
    Walterick was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Rich Kroon at 4:48 a.m., he said.
    Grim ruled Walterick's death a homicide.
    It does'nt matter how prepared you are, someone is more ready. Sad story, But I'm still not arming myself for my morning coffee in the kitchen.
    why would you arm yourself outside of your house and not in? i dont see the point... do you think you KNOW when you are going to need a gun? i generally dont take my gun off till i take my pants off at night and even then there are loaded guns around on the table next to me or whatever... you never know when yer gonna need em.
    Interesting snippet from the article:
    She said her parents had an open-door policy, meaning children in their neighborhood helped themselves to food in the refrigerator and the backyard swimming pool.
    Carrying at home makes a lot more sense if anyone can just walk in.
