Default Laws regarding CC/OC on VA property?

I don't know if it makes any difference or not? Isn't that gov't property? I wouldn't have any intention of carrying either way tonight because I will be in the pool with my girls tonight. They take swim lessons there through the YWCA here. Normally my husband would be in the pool so I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a law regarding this or if it would just come down to policy/being asked to leave etc. TIA.

If its posted private property its off-limits in VA. Its an automatic trespass violation, the sign serves the purpose of a verbal demand.

pdf file, scroll down for VA.

    · Private property when prohibited by the owner of the property, or where posted as prohibited.
Violation is a trespass charge and not a firearms violation

I don't believe she meant "VA" as in Virginia. VA Memorial Hospital, in Lebanon, has a YMCA annex.

Which "VA" are you talking about? The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs? The Commonwealth of Virginia? The Vatican City State?

VA may be an abbreviation for:
VA or Va may also mean:

    Sorry, my bad.

If the YMCA is on govt property - leave the gun at home, or in the vehicle parked off of the property.

it is definitely illegal (per federal law) to carry into a VA hospital itself.

i'm not sure about the property around the building, though. i can't find anything in the federal gun laws that would make it illegal, but that doesn't mean it isn't. (i might just not be looking in the right place).

The problem is that some VA hospitals and grounds are military installations and fall under the same laws and rules as bases.

I seriously recommend keeping the gun off the property just in case.

If the Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital is located within the boundaries of a military installation, then military installation rules prevail.

Federal law (18 USC 930) states "in" a facility, not "on the property of," so the VA's signs clearly exceed any lawful authority. Likewise, 18 USC 930 permits the lawful carrying of firearms incident to hunting and other lawful purposes.

That being said, the VA has an unlimited budget compared to you and has convinced federal magesterial judges that the exemption listed in 18 USC 930 does not exist. In short, you lose even if you're right.

Yes, I actually saw it posted as I was driving in and was going to post it. Thanks.
