Act 235 Shooting Range Test
Forgive me if this isnt in the right topic,
I am taking a act 235 course and I passed the written test, now I have to pass the range test. It's on Saturday. I am going to a shooting range to practice so I dont fail miserably. It will be with a 38 revolver. Is there anyone out there that hows the maximum range I should practice at ? 15 yards? 25 yards?

25 yards, two handed, may kneel.
15 yards standing, two handed.

Re: Act 235 Shooting Range Test
Unless your .38 is an old Llama snub-nose, 25 yards is not a challenge for most people.

Re: Act 235 Shooting Range Test
Unless they significantly change the test, you can qualify with any gun you want. I used a 92fs. They had me load two mags with 5 rounds each because the revolver folks had to reload for the 10 shots.
And if you think for a second you can't hit a MAN SIZED TARGET from 25 yards, do us all a favor and never carry a gun for any reason. I'm serious here... outside of a hurricane or an actual bear biting your face, you should confidently place 10 shots on that paper 100% of the time. The "passing score" for that test should make us all run in fear of armed security.
The girl next to me was getting mud on my target during practice. The RSO asked me how the hell I had mud on my target, and I just rolled my eyes. Yeah, she passed. It has to start someplace... It has to start sometime...

Re: Act 235 Shooting Range Test
The test was from 45 feet (15 yards) at the maximum. and its optional if u wanna fire off the shotgun a few times. I PASSED MY TEST AND NOW IM CERTIFIED!!!!!!! YAY!!!
But i dont have any military/police background or any previous experience in working in armed security. How can I find a good job then? Shit. Where are the good jobs?

Re: Act 235 Shooting Range Test
Go to one of the big agencies and take their tests. They will be shocked that you can make complete sentences and your piss doesn't sizzle with seven kinds of opioids. Assuming it doesn't. They will very quickly give you good assignments. Do good work, which means show up, act professional, don't be that guy that is all "can't wait to shoot a bad guy in the face."
A good job will follow. Good luck out there. It has to start someplace... It has to start sometime...

AlliedBarton, Securitas, G4S, etc...are the bigger name regular security companies. Pay sucks starting out imo, but there are advancement opportunities, plus it gets you some experience.
Do you have a minimum of an associates degree in crimj? The Act235 and the degree could get you in the door as a deputy sheriff. Within a year they'll send you for your Act 2 certification at the sheriffs academy.
