Hypothetical Question RE: Septa Rails
You're riding regional rail and end up in Trenton NJ by mistake.
Clearly you would have some sort of problem if found out. But legally, the rails and car are owned and operated by PA. Its like a US embassy in a foreign country.
Just a point of discussion.

Re: Hypothetical Question RE: Septa Rails
I'm not a lawyer, but in the same way one may inadvertently drive a privately owned, Pa-registered vehicle into Jersey and find his ass in a sling, an ill-fated train trip to the People's Republic while armed would have an equally unpleasant outcome if discovered.

Re: Hypothetical Question RE: Septa Rails
The only thing that may help you is the safe passage provision of the FOPA, but that's a long shot. And by long shot, I mean hitting a dime on the moon with a .22.
§926A. Interstate transportation of firearms
Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver's compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.
I don't really know how this would happen, though. Trains aren't known for taking wrong turns. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Say nothing; go back across the river to PA.

Re: Hypothetical Question RE: Septa Rails
Get back to PA as fast as possible. I have made a wrong turn in Portland, and drove across the river. I locked it in my lock box, and drove back as soon as I could. I do go to my brothers in the People's Republic of Jersey to shoot. Some of his new neighbors from the city call the police almost every time. We just don't answer any questions, and tell them it is private land. The try to get tough, but that never works.

No, the rails will not help your case if caught. I don't even like to fly over NJ with a gun.

Re: Hypothetical Question RE: Septa Rails
Interesting question. Rails do present specific specialties. For example...a tire warehouse exists in Pennsylvania. Railroad tracks run alongside loading docks.
Tires in a bin in the warehouse have a bill of lading with a ship to address in Indiana. At that point, theft of the tires from the warehouse is theft from interstate shipping and is a federal offense.

Re: Hypothetical Question RE: Septa Rails
Falling asleep and reaching the end of the line was my hypothetical thought.
This is certainly the correct answer
Interesting points! My mention of an embassy was really just an analogy.
Yea I was thinking there was a minuscule chance something like that would come into play.
