INAL, but not passing pics does not mean one cannot shoot the guns, but it also raises questions on if they should or not..

It depends on the crime and if the are not able to even be around guns (felony i believe)...

Once again INAL..i would risk it...my rights are worth more than a friend who got himself in hot water a few years ago...

Harassment is not a felony which is the charge cause it was in a domestic dispute.

Felonies have nothing to do with anything, you can be prohibited for life from touching a firearm or ammo nationwide for misdemeanors.

What, specifically, was he convicted of?
I am not a lawyer. Nothing I say or write is legal advice.

No, you didn't say whether he had been convicted of anything. You said he had been charged and had a PFA against him.

Harassment can be a summary offense or a misdemeanor. Here's a link to the statute: http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/...tn=9&subsctn=0

Do you know how his offense or offenses (that he was convicted of) were graded?

Also to add.. if the harassment charge was from a domestic then he is probably prohibited under the "misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence." Doesn't matter what the charge was if it was related to a domestic... thanks to the Lautenberg Amendment.

Yeah your correct that is the exact reason and he was convicted of it and got like 1 year probation. He has to pay this lawyer almost 1k to have his rights restored.

This is way outside my expertise, so let me make that clear. But if he was convicted of a prohibiting misdemeanor then I don't think his lawyer can get his rights restored directly - it will require a pardon from the governor I think. There is no automatic or procedural rights restoration process for a prohibiting conviction that I am aware of.

Sometimes a lawyer will help clean up some mess from a former PFA or a charge that was dismissed or PTI'd or something. But it doesn't work that way with a prohibiting conviction. You are screwed for life.

Although a lawyer can help (and should be retained IMO) to assist in an application for a pardon from the governor.

But let's say you're right. Are you saying the conviction did NOT prohibit him? Because earlier you said it was the conviction that prohibited him. If it is, it requires a pardon from the Governor (state) or the President if it is federal.
