Those were my thoughts exactly when I was first fiddling with 9mm loads (6 months ago). I have Lyman's reloading guide as well as a few miscellaneous ones that came with powder. They all cited 1.09 - 1.125". I measured a box of Winchester White Box and they all measured around 1.08".

I was also worried about getting a good seating depth. Initially, I was using the flat points listed below (my presses HATED these, BTW.):

I figured I could allow for a little shorter OAL because of this. Now, I believe I ran the RN's around 1.095".

Also, how are you calculating the pressures? I'd love to know if there's a trick/chart.
I'm only here for the wood c-rings.

1.07 sounds a little short. I did some Hornady HAP bullets recently at 1.08 but the powder charge was towards the bottom end of the scale. A lot of 9mm I have loaded as long as 1.14.

oal and powder charge = pressure/bullet velocity you change either one of those factors and it will decrease or increase bullet velocity. that is where a chronograph i think is a necessity and a real tool to hone in your loads, otherwise you are stuck with trusting data from a book that may or may not be accurate and you see what your velocity actually is and you can adjust powder charge to get your desired velocity.

i tend to run all my bullets long to avoid pressure issues and it never hurts to run them long, but not too long as to have chambering issues. i use a plunk test, but that's another topic.

also each bullet has different oal's my berrys was .025 longer than hornady's same bullet weight and you have to adjust oal accordinally
