Re: Amish Gun Show - Big Run War Memorial
What should one expect here?
Is there a majority of Amish sellers?
I know they are big on buying private sale rifles for obvious reasons but is there normally "English" sellers here also?
Just don't want to drive up there and only find hunting rifles and hunting ammo geared towards Amish buyers.

Re: Amish Gun Show - Big Run War Memorial
The promoters are Amish. The vast majority of show attendees (you and me) are English. There are about 60-80 tables, and the majority of vendors are English non-FFL "private collection" types. If history repeats, there usually is at least one FFL type dealer there capable of doing handgun transfers, but only the FFLs present typically have handguns for sale.
As for the merchandise, there are usually at least two, possibly three or four Amish vendors with long guns. One Amish vendor has some guns and collectables of all types -- knives, old toys, lighters, padlocks, fishing tackle, and other "antique" stuff.
The English vendors will have a mix of merchandise, including rifles of mostly bolt and lever configuration, and a variety of shotguns. There may be a few black guns; last year Mahoning Valley Milling had a couple tables with ARs and ammo, but no handguns. There's no guarantee MVMCo will be there this time; about 60% of the vendors are "repeats" and the other 40% rotate in and out each spring and fall; sometimes there, sometimes not.
Some vendors have what I'd classify as "firearm flea-market" items -- bags of fired cases, full and partial boxes of odds and ends ammo, rear sights, scope rings and mounts, used scopes, receiver sights, gunstocks, boxes of jacketed and cast bullets, firearm related books and magazines, used sets of reloading dies and other reloading equipment, etc. One vendor typically has a number of hunting and outdoor art prints, mostly framed.
It's what I'd call a typical northern PA "firehall" show -- you never know what you might find.
Again, this is FRIDAY and SATURDAY because the Amish don't engage in commerce on Sundays.

Re: Amish Gun Show - Big Run War Memorial
I was there in 2014.
I do not recall at what time of year. Spring time maybe , would need to check my gun log.
I believe it was also the Saturday , not sure if everyone was there Saturday as opposed to Friday.
It seemed a bit small.
I think they can use any support they can get.
They may have had more than one show that year but not 100% sure, I seen an ad for it on Pennswoods is how I found out.
I did buy one rifle , and kicked myself to this day for not buying another I had seen.
The knife dealer was a nice fella'
Got a Cold Steel DVD from him that me and the wife laughed at til we cried more than once. Mainly during the blow gun part.
I would also like to point out this is Big Run near Punxy and not any Big Run towards Bald Eagle state park.
Using Map quest almost cost me a long worthless trip in the wrong direction.

Re: Amish Gun Show - Big Run War Memorial
I just noticed the OP said that Mahoning Valley Milling was there last year.
I'd have to say I didn't see them.
Was Saturday full all day?
I'm thinking I may have missed a bunch.

Re: Amish Gun Show - Big Run War Memorial
A friend called and said the building is locked up tight and no vehicles or buggies in sight.
It's either cancelled, or I was provided the wrong info as to the dates.

After driving over 1 hour to get there, was told by the Post Office, the show was last weekend.

Re: Amish Gun Show - Big Run War Memorial CANCELLED??
I went today and there was no activity. I did see a sign that listed gun show Mar 28. I will likely go tomorrow and see.

Re: Amish Gun Show - Big Run War Memorial CANCELLED??
The sign at the fire hall said "gun drawing Mar 28", that was all I saw.
