Backwoods Outfitters - Columbia
Just checked into Backwoods Outfitters website. It appears they have really increased their stock. Also looks like doing both in store and mail order sales. I have not been there in quite a few years. Has anyone been there recently and if so what is your opinion? Have they increased size of showroom? Thanks.

They are still located in the lower level of the 100year old barn. Same showroom but decluttered and more organized from before. Website has what is currently available from their distributor and can be ordere directly from the website and drop shipped to backwoods for paperwork and pics check. Still the same friendly help as before. For the most part it is still the same shop from a few years ago but with a modern 21st century twist with online ordering. One of my favorite " honey holes" that always has something to look at.

Same little shop with a friendly staff and loads of good stuff. One word of advice, they often go to gun shows and take lots of their inventory with them.

Re: Backwoods Outfitters - Columbia
I bought my first handgun from them at a gun show over 15 years ago. The gun show was at the Valley Forge Convention center, before it was a casino. Ironically, my wife bought her first handgun from them last year at the Oaks gun show. They were pleasant to deal with and had the best price. I've never been to their store, but have it on my list if I ever get out that way.

Re: Backwoods Outfitters - Columbia
I viewed their selection at the old Valley Forge Gun Show, very impressed with their low prices. As I recall, they were about on the same level with Tanners, who is about the cheapest stocking dealer around.
Are their prices still on the lower end?

Stopped by this week, but only to do a personal transfer. Super nice people and while I didn't have time to look over their stock, they appear to have a nice selection.
I thought their transfer price was a bit on the high side, but it wasn't outrageous. Not much competition in the area I guess. If I lived in the area I would certainly check them out.

I used to live near there when they first opened in the early 90's, so I know Tom and Angie well. They are good people, and there guns are priced fairly. I have been back a few times but don't get there much anymore.

Great folks, known then for many years. Just purchased a Ruger LCP 2 from them recently as a backup to my sidearm. Paid $301.75
Tom is a great guy, has fair retail prices, reasonable inventory in stock, and also gives fair trade in values (traded in another handgun on a rifle there a couple months ago too); deal with confidence, he is a respectable man, forthright, amicable, no BS, and served our great nation as a United States Marine.
