    Default AR-15 shopping

Looking for local shops who carry AR rifles . Not looking for anything fancy . pretty much bare bone similar to what I used while serving('88-'92). Would prefer carry handle.

Flattop ARs are a dime a dozen. Then you can add a removable carry handle, flip ups, or fixed BUIS. You can find them in pretty much any shop or box store. If you decide to order online, I suggest using Dale Starry in Shippensburg for the transfer.

Dunhams generally has a selection of AR's. Although, I haven't been in there lately. I Did stop in at gander this morning. Good selection, but It amazes me how they sell anything. Prices are way to high.

If I have my history correct you would have had the M16 and not the M4. 16" rifles like the M4 are more of what you are going to find in local shops as they are the de jour AR right now. Finding 20" rifles while possible you will probably have less local selection.

What is you reasoning behind a carry handle? Purely ascetic? Or do you just want the A2 style sight? If your just looking at the sight get a flattop and then you can get a carry handle or just the A2 style sight without the carry handle. Flat tops are more popular because of their versatility and will be easier to find. If you want a upper with the integrated carry handle, chances of finding one locally are less because they are less popular and more of a collector item.

What is the intended purpose of this firearm? Defense, competition, range plinking, collecting, all of the above?

    Also what is your budget?

CDNN still has Colt ARs at good price if want to order online. Hard to beat the Colts as they are original mil spec. Link
