    Default Shield slide letter

I was cleaning my S&W 9mm shield today.
On the underside of the slide near the barrel was the letter L.
    Stamped into the slide.
Any one have a an idea what that stands for?
I'd rather have a gun in my hand then a cop on the phone.

Maybe call S&W. There's nothing out there on it.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

I believe it's an inspection stamp. I googled for info when I found "LJ" stamped inside my other model pistol's slide and that was the answer, although I can't find the info now.

It could be one of those taps where it says 'do not tap'.
