Metal detectors being installed at PNC Park

Crews were installing walk-through metal detectors at the entrances to PNC Park this morning.

Major League Baseball announced in January 2014 that the detectors would be required at all stadiums for the start of the 2015 season. The Pirates open their home schedule with a game against Detroit on April 13.

The Penguins also plan to install walk-through metal detectors at Consol Energy Center before the start of next season.

I don't go to ballgames anymore but, I feel safer already

Last year, I took a couple of pairs of pliers into the ballpark past the wands, just to see how easily it could be done. I bet it won't be any more difficult this year.
