Re: CoCo Wheats with Protection
I think there were guns in this thread somewhere...
Oh yeah, Kel-Tecs!
Went with Mrs EM to the range last weekend.
(pic thread)
She shot the P3AT for the first time. I was surprised she fired a whole mag considering the recoil on that small handgun.
She did prefer the P32.

Ha! Well, yeah - the "(food item) with protection" threads are sort of a pafoa throwback and not really recognizable these days.

Re: CoCo Wheats with Protection
Apparently EM and I are the only two here on the forum that had a normal childhood.
I ran into this same discussion with my wife (from Philly) when we got married. I had to introduce her to the warm, chocolatey goodness of CoCo Wheats on a cold winter morning. I can't eat sugar any more or I'd by that stuff by the case when we go back to my dad's.
When I was in Africa, they didn't have CoCo Wheats (Savages! You aren't a civilized country until you do), so I had to improvise with Cream of Wheat (which they had), cocoa powder, powdered milk and a little sugar. Not quite the same, but close enough considering.Sed ego sum homo indomitus

Re: CoCo Wheats with Protection
I see you have milk next to the CoCo wheats but use water to make them. Never tried CoCo wheats but when I make cream of wheat I always use milk. That is the way my Mom taught me and for decades I didn't even know you could use just water. One day I ran out of milk and made it with water like the box says. Its not the same and I didn't like it as much.
For a real treat try using milk to make your CoCo wheats.

Re: CoCo Wheats with Protection
I usually make both types with water (per package directions - sort of) and add milk at the end.
Last night, I cooked them with half milk and half water - and still added milk at the end.
It works either way. I know that when using milk only, you have to be more careful not to "burn" the milk as it comes to a boil/near boil.
Most times I do it all by eye - just fill the pot to where I think it's enough water, then pour the CoCo Wheats straight from the box until it looks like "enough". It's easier to do that when cooking with water - you can't see through milk to know when to stop pouring.
Good to know that the photos can still be seen since they are on Photobucket.
Do you have the filter that allows you to see them?I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: CoCo Wheats with Protection
I used to have a plugin to avoid the photobucket speedometer screen but it stopped working and I uninstalled it. It appears that for a while photobucket kept changing things to stop apps like that. I am using firefox and the only plugin I have is adblock plus. Pics come thru fine now. Maybe photobucket had a change of heart after the one time shakedown and watching their traffic plummet.
I still deleted my account though.
