Ebay auctions...
Ok, this is just killing me!!! I am waiting for one to end today....6 more hours on it. There is a buy it now but that is 75.00 more then the starting bid so....I hate to use that and spend more then I have to. Then again, I am agonizing about the fact that someone may just come along and buy it up and I'll miss out..... UGH!!! I know, a stupid trivial thing.... I've been watching this one for a few days though and now that it's coming down to the wire...I'm also a little worried the guy will pull it since there are no bids in fear that it's not going to sell at all. I refuse to bid until the final seconds.

I always use the buy it now option!!! 9 times out of 10 the price is better than anything you will find retail anyway. I don't want to lose it so I just use the buy it now option. There is no shame in it, if you try and be really cheap karma may just bite you in the ass.

Re: Ebay auctions...
Everybody says Buy It Now is thier friend, but if the buyer thinks BIN is too high, why use it? I'm with the OP on this one, folks. When I find an item on eBay I want, I decide what it's worth. If BIN is less than that number, I'll use it. Otherwise, I'll watch the item and bid near the end, but never more than I decided it was worth in the first place. Bidder's Fever is the seller's friend, not the buyer's.

Re: Ebay auctions...
There are research tools that help you to decide what the market will pay, and how many other buyers are out there.
Search for ended auctions. If the same item often goes without bids for the BIN price, then wait. If it sells for more than that, then jump on it. If it seldom comes up at all, and you really want it, then jump on it. Few bidders and low prices mean more than what the new retail price is. Used exercise equipment, for example, usually goes out for the trash, while brand new it's hundreds of dollars. The used market has its own pricing structure.
