Received a yellow postcard in the mail after applying for LTCF
Okay guys, I have a question:
I applied for my LTCF on February 2, 2015. I received a yellow postcard in the mail today and there's a permit # on it with my address and the Philly permit unit's address on one side, and the other side states:
Please contact
Detective (hiding his name) ext.
at
GUN PERMIT UNIT
(phone number)
times to call
My question is, should I be worried about something here or is this the approval/denial? When I applied, I gave them my DD-214. When I was discharged in 1998, I was discharged with a general under honorable conditions. My discharge was for an idiotic mistake I made as a 19 year old where I admitted to taking LSD once and there is a no tolerance policy in the military with drug charges. My fault, not making any excuses. I can't say it's affected me with any job in the past or with college or anything. I've also never been arrested, by the way. Anyway, the DD-214 simply states that my discharge was general/under honorable (which the detective that interviewed me highlighted) and on the bottom left it states "misconduct" as a reason (which he did not highlight). He also never asked about the discharge. Should I be worried about this or am I making much ado about nothing? This may sound silly but should I contact a lawyer before I call the detective?
Thanks guys!

I'd be upset that the Philly Police broke state law and publicly voided your privacy.

It's highlighted, so that's going to be the focus. The city permits division has seen a flag and will view it as a chance to deny...which reputation has it that they hope to be able to do.
Ahem.... you did that silly drug thing while visiting another state, right? Hmm?
I think you have experienced a zero-tolerance consequence in the military, and are about to experience a City of Brotherly Love zero tolerance also.

On another point, that General Discharge can be upgraded after 6 months (nose clean 6 months!) to an Honorable. Contact VA and your Elected Employees.

It sounds to me as though they may want clarification on one or more of the questions on the form. Normally they will either accept or deny the concealed carry license. They have access to your background information. This is not like purchasing a firearm. I wouldn't worry and would call the detective at the PA state police.

True also it should not be an issue as it is a General Other than Honorable Discharge. The application if i am correct ask if you have been DISHONORABLE DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMED SERVICES. A clean nose with any discharge excerpt DHD is eligible for an upgrade after a set amount of time. Not sure if its 6 months or 2 years. Contact your local VA.

Legally I don't see how the PPD can demand you contact them further. You've applied and they are mandated, by law, to approve or deny you within 45 days of the date of application.
If it were me I'd contact Joshua Prince at PrinceLaw.
