    Default Scranton Area Gun Shops?

I'll be in Scranton all week. Does anyone have any shops they recommend visiting? My interests are primarily military rifles and reloading but I have an interest in everything shooting related.

A quich search listed the following. Please advise if any of these shops have closed or if there is anything you can add.

    Gun Toters Supply - Archbald
    Advanced Arms - Pittston
    Homeland Tactical - Duryea
    Piestraks - Nanticoke
    Georges Reloading - Exeter
    Bills Sporting Goods - Scranton
    Big Rich Sports - Scranton
    One Shop Stop - Scranton
    On Target - Frackville

Mike at Gun Toters is a dick so scratch that off your list. You can try Big Rich on Main Ave, but he's got weird hours. Homeland Tac only stocks used mil surp, so if that's your thing it's worth a drive by, the guy is pretty cool.

Honestly Advanced Arms might be the only one worth your time. Friendly staff great selection. I don't think they stock reloading supplies, but they have large selection of firearms and competitive prices.

Piestracs is my go to place. Advanced is just down the street to me but I head down 81 every week to go to piestracs.

Oh wait I decided yo stop telling people about them. Keep the deals for myself..

If you go there you may need to wait in line.

To counter what Don Johnson said, I've had nothing but good experiences at Gun Toters. The guys there are patient, and know their stuff. Mike is a cop, so maybe he gives off that vibe? I dunno. He was very nice to me. The only shop I refuse to go to is the one in Honesdale, Northeast Firearms. I was in there once, and the guy was a total sexist dickbag. Not to mention their shitty selection and prices.

Piestraks isn't really in the Scranton area; it takes about an hour to get there from this area. But it's a worth the drive.

There are a couple more stores around here: J&G Sports and Zellers. Both are in Throop. J&G's has a huge selection, lots of milsurp and reloading stuff, but the prices are kind of high. I've never been in Zellers, but I hear they're good. The one in Duryea is kind of a hole-in-the-wall place, not a big selection. Hunter's Gallery in Hamlin has a nice selection and good prices, and the family that runs it is very nice.

There is a second shop in Duryea. Roll call. I have done a few transfers there.

Zeller's is in a new building, across the street from their old one and 2 blocks from J&G. You could hit both in short order. J&G is only open days, I believe, but crammed with stuff, and prices are higher than even Gander Mtn. Dave Zeller is a Class III dealer.

Bill's has a limited selection but he's a good guy, Big Rich's has even less.

Advanced Arms in Pittston is my go to shop and they have evening hours. No hunting or reloading supplies, mostly tactical firearms. Hunters Gallery on 590 in Hamlin, 20 minutes outside Scranton has one of the best selections of rifles and shotguns on hand in the area, they stock reloading supplies as well.

I like Piestraks as well.. Not a lot of military items, but fair deals are to be had. Matts in Pikes creek has some decent stuff, as well as a variety of parts. Curts in mifflinville too, but its a ride.. he always had a lot of older military items..
