Looking for a gun for the wife.
Low recoil easy to grip.
Thank'sI'd rather have a gun in my hand then a cop on the phone.

I'm biased, but, look at the m&p line by smith and Wesson.

Re: Gun recommendation
I handled an h and k vp9 the other day and seemed to have a very thin grip. You may want to look into that

Re: Gun recommendation
For carry? Home defense? Range? All of the above?
Let her pick. Give her some decent options that are large enough to absorb recoil, and that she can shoot well. No lightweight, sub compacts. Make sure she can rack the slide, and have he try some revolvers too.

Re: Gun recommendation
for the range, or will your wife be carrying it as well?

Bersa just came out with the BP380cc, they're about the same size as the Shield but shoot a bit softer because its chambered in .380. I own the 9mm version, the trigger is amazing right out of the box & it's just big enough to fit well in your hand but not too big that you will have difficulty carrying it. If you watch the video, the gun barely moves when fired.Last edited by itchinesu; February 14th, 2015 at 03:45 PM.

Re: Gun recommendation
Maybe a sig sauer 232? My wife likes her sp 101 revolver. Sig sauer p226, p239, p229.
22 caliber if it's for range use.
Just bought my wife a G42 Glock. She hates recoil ,but she can shoot it pretty darn well. She also handles my Pt709 with little problem.I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning.[

Re: Gun recommendation
Be a sport and take your wife to a range where she can rent and shoot several pistols of different types and pick out the one she is most comfortable with and shoots most accurately.
Don't forget there's more than just caliber involved. She must be able to reach the magazine release button and it shouldn't be so heavily sprung that she cannot depress it with the thumb of her strong hand, same for operating the slide, though you might try teaching her to hold the slide and push the grip forward. Also if the pistol is DA/SA make sure she reach the trigger when in DA mode!
Be patient, and let her choose. Just be sure to pick up the range tab!

Re: Gun recommendation
When my wife first decided she wanted her own gun, I took her to a few different places so she could handle a variety of handguns. She decided on a S&W 642, so I bought it. After a few short range sessions, she thought the recoil was too much.
She ended up with a Sig 238 & likes it. It was the only semi that she could reliably rack the slide on. The 642 is my pocket gun now."It's hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong."
