Re: Recommendations for .22lr Revolver
I really enjoyed my Taurus 94 when I had it. 9 shot cylinder. They can be found used relatively cheap. Wont be on par with a Smith or Ruger, but a great plinker if you can find one for <$300.

Re: Recommendations for .22lr Revolver
Single 6's are great guns, but they suck for having any range fun. I love single actions, but when I want to shoot .22 - it is nice being able to do it without the long reload times. The H&R is a much faster reload, even faster than a swing-out revolver. There is more room to get to the chamber than a swing-out.
The H&R 999 is a quality gun, and ranks up there with the S&W K22's in accuracy. They also have been going up in value because they stopped making them years ago and more people are just learning about how good of a gun they are.
The example I mentioned was in very nice shape. It was a "recent"(post 1950, to mid 1990's when the last H&R handgun was made) model, having the vented rib and two piece grips.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Re: Recommendations for .22lr Revolver
That's the one I have, 999 sportsman, venter rib, adjustable sights, had it since 78, fine shooter, and as you mention, the top breaking action, with the full cylinder extractor makes it much more fun, compared to my super nine..
Parts are available, but they are getting harder to find, and many places do not update their websites, so it may show availability, until you go through the time of placing the order.... namely springs.."North of I-80, we don't dial 911, we dial 223"

617 is an amazing gun and will be something you'd be happy to hand down.
The original K17 Masterpiece is also worth seeking out on auction sites. I have one from 1958 I received from my grandfather. It's fantastic and it's far more accurate than I. Well worth the investment for a family heirloom.

I LOVE my 617. There is a reason it’s called the masterpiece...

Re: Recommendations for .22lr Revolver
Search the used market for A Smith & Wesson K-22 Masterpiece, Model 17 or Model 617. Or even a .22/.32 Kit Gun, Model 34.
