What ammo do you carry in your Shield?
I've seen some comments on Da Interwebs about some 9mm JHP's performing better in short-barrel guns, so I wondered what Shield owners were using, and what they thought about their choices.
Do you find some ammo performs better than others?
Do you buy the difference in shorter vs longer barrels, or is it hype?
Any feeding issues?
Me, I'm leaning towards Hornady Critical Defense or XTP.

Federal HST 124
The same guy does a lot more 9mm 3" barreled reviews. Watch them all and make a decision. Then test it in your gun.

Yes, I've seen all those. I was hoping for some first-hand feedback, specifically from Shield owners.

I been using that Remington personal defense that's for short barrel. Previously used the Federal HST 124, I say they shoot about the same and have the same accuracy from 10-15ft.

First hand experience? Someone who's actually shot someone with their shield and it's respective ammo? You'd be hard pressed to find anyone here who's done that, let alone anyone who's shot anyone with anything.
I've shot mine in gel, through enough denim to make any hair metal envious, as well as a plethora of building materials and auto glass. It doesn't do as well as some other stuff, but it's a trade off...lower recoil and higher transferred energy due to higher speed, but with lesser penetration.

Critical duty +P. They shoot very well out of my shield and they chono'd at an average of 991 fps compared to federal 115gr fmj ammo that averaged at 1002 fps.

Critical duty is definitely preferred over critical defense. The 135gr +p would be a good choice.
I carry 124gr +p gold dots in my LC9s. Not a shield, but nearly identical. Gold dots are available in short barrel. If I recall, some youtube testers found no advantage of the short barrel over the standard loading.

Re: What ammo do you carry in your Shield?
Anything +P is gonna penetrate less and expand quicker. It depends on your preference of what you are looking for. A +P round will hit a bit harder due to the extra speed but we're talking maybe another 50fps or so. In my experience from some ghetto-fab tests I did a few years ago from a glock 26 and ruger lc9 the standard pressure rounds do a bit better as they recoil slightly less so follow ups are easier and they do penetrate a little more. That being said I currently carry Speer GDHP 124+P in my G26 and have a few boxes of the same HST as I want expansion and quicker energy transfer rather than penetration due to the possibility of maybe not hitting the bread basket during a conflict. Just my preference though. A good round you may want to consider I'd the CorBon DPX 115gr
