If this gets killed at the 1 yard line by a bunch of geriatric fudds, I'm going to vomit. 53% oppose, 40% support, and of the 53% opposed...the vast majority were over 55?

Damn. I'm going to be utterly depressed for weeks over this.

Been stewing over this for a while, and I'm getting even more frustrated. It seems to me that if the survey was conducted among current hunters, it's not valid as people like me -- who only own semi-automatics and would hunt if we could -- weren't included. It was only a poll of manually-operated rifle owners. Of course it's going to be weighted against introducing a new population to the sport when that population isn't included in the survey.

    Ugh.

Given their preliminary approval and reasons for it, my hope is that they'll see the assorted Fudd "woods running red with blood" histrionics and discount them accordingly. There are no valid arguments against semis other than a rather weak appeal to traditional PA hunting.

It's still up in the air. All depends on how the commissioners feel about it when they vote tomorrow morning. Remember, it's Pennsylvania we're talking about, the land of no Sunday hunting, no car sales on Sunday and state run liquor stores. Things change slowly and education often comes for some in a hearse.

I thought that this was in the bag, and hadn't been paying attention... Had no idea that there was significant opposition to this.

We'll probably have to wait ten more years for more of them to die before it gets passed. They probably thought we were trying to hunt with actual machine guns
