    Default 1900 test Luger

I have an interesting 1900 American Eagle Luger. According to everything I have read about the "test" Lugers the serial numbers end at 7500.

The Luger I have seems to comply with all the characteristics of the test guns except for the serial number. It is in the 77xx range. It does not have Germany on it, DWM on the toggle, last two digits on the parts and the "flaming bomb" mark is in the lug well and also inside the side plate.

The piece is in excellent condition and appears to be used very little.

Does any one have any thoughts about this ?

You need to Google a specialized Luger forum to really talk to the people there. Lugers are a topic with many variations and specialized knowledge is a must.

A post like this needs to be followed by at least a dozen detailed pictures. Lugers are very difficult to narrow down almost as difficult as Mausers at times do to their lack of factory markings. Detailed pictures and as stated above you may need to seek out a web site dedicated to German arms.

Pictures are a must. There's no other way to identify what it is you may or may not have.

Ask here. Jan Still is one of the most knowledgeable Luger experts on the planet, and there are other folks here that really know their Lugers.

I agree with the above: first take detailed pictures and then post it on specialty sites such as the Luger Forum or Luger GunBoards. Without pictures, everything is pointless speculation.
