    Default Baseball fans...... ?

When watching the games did you ever notice they have a stat for ever possible situation that could ever come up?

"so and so is 4 for 5 when runners are in scoring position on the 2nd Tuesday in June when the wind is 3mph and he is wearing white socks"

Where do they get this crap? Do they just make it up or do they have some program where they put in the name and the situation and it finds that stats for them?

I mean some of these stats they pull are far from being normal information kept around for a rainy day....

    Just curious.....

Baseball is so slow and boring, and the season so long that fans, announcers, and analysts need something to do with their time.

Baseball is a game of numbers, every stat that is spewed during a broadcast is in a book somewhere or on a spreadsheet being updated in real time.

I enjoy going to the ballpark and watching baseball. I do not like it on tv though.

I'm guessing the "engineers" are the ones that provide all the relevant and not so relavant stats to the announcers. The announcers just read it off the monitor. Computers are great for storing and organizing stats.

I recently took an interest (again) in baseball. Haven't cared about it for years, but after going to a game and watching it live, I have renewed interest.

Now if only the Phills can get some hot bats again, all will be good.

Yes...they do have EVERY stat. But someone in the top booth keeps track of everything. There must be some database where the find it. I'm sure Google helps too.

    So ya..GO YANKEES!

They get it from the Elias Sports Bureau. Not sure if they have to call or they can just punch it up on a computer, I always wondered that too.
