MCAULIFFE’S GUN CONTROL DEFEATED: LIFETIME CCWS GET GREEN LIGHT
http://www.breitbart.com/big-governm...t-green-light/
Monday, Virginia’s Republican-controlled Senate Courts of Justice panel rejected Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s (D) plan for limiting handgun purchases to one a month and placing new regulations on gun shows. They also expanded the exercise of gun rights by voting “to allow gun owners to obtain a lifetime concealed carry permit.”
On December 15 Breitbart News reported McAuliffe’s gun control proposals not only included limits on how often a gun could be purchased and a closure of the so-called “gun show loophole,” but new limits on the way gun show venders could advertise their products. The controls also would have allowed the state to revoke concealed carry permits for persons who were delinquent on child support.
According to the AP, the senate panel did vote in support of one of McAuliffe’s proposals — the one making “it illegal for those convicted of certain violent crimes from transporting or possessing [a firearm].”Its easier to fool people than to convince them they've been fooled....Mark Twain

WTF is a "Senate Courts of Justice panel?"
Does that mean it didn't get out of committee for a vote?

Interesting. "to allow gun owners to obtain a lifetime concealed carry permit.”
Strange isn't it that prior to the SAFE ACT, New York State Pistol Licenses WERE issued for life.

RICHMOND
Bill after bill backing stricter gun controls came to the Senate Courts of Justice Committee on Monday morning. Bill after bill died.
The committee spent several hours killing Democratic measures but advanced a Republican measure that would allow concealed weapon permit holders to obtain a lifetime permit.
“It was an awesome day,” said Philip Van Cleave, president of the pro-gun Virginia Citizens Defense League.
The lifetime permit bill (SB689) would require permit holders to still have their background examined every five years and pay a higher processing fee, said Sen. Richard Black, R-Loudoun County, who sponsored it.
The committee also advanced SB1132 from Sen. Thomas Garrett, R-Lynchburg, to allow people to carry a concealed firearm on school property if no school event is in session and a school is being used for a support group meeting or church service. Garrett said such uses of schools are common in his rural district.
Among the Democratic-backed bills that were rejected were measures that would require criminal background checks on private sales at gun shows, reinstate a law that limited handgun purchases to one per month, and prohibit someone who is subject to a protective order from possessing a gun.
The office of Gov. Terry McAuliffe issued a statement saying he was “disappointed to see these common sense measures to keep Virginians safe fall to special interest politics.”
One Democratic-sponsored bill appeared to survive the committee, but its status is unclear.
The legislation (SB943) – sponsored by Sen. Barbara Favola, D-Arlington – would prohibit a person convicted of stalking, assault and battery of a family member or sexual battery from possessing a firearm. It is supported by the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police and Virginia State Police.
Sen. Tommy Norment, R-James City County, who is committee co-chairman, voted “aye” in favor of the bill and announced, “The bill is reported,” which means approved by the committee.
The bill also was referred to the Senate Finance Committee because it has a fiscal impact.
But the state’s Legislative Information System website later reported that the bill failed 10-5.
Norment said later he must have mispoken regarding its approval. Norment spokesman Jeff Ryer said in an email late Monday that Norment did vote for the bill but believes the vote was tallied incorrectedly online.
Favola was upset with the outcome.
“The transparency is not there, and the public is now very confused,” Favola said.
“There were many people who cared about this bill, who were there in the audience. They spoke to the bill or were monitoring the bill and now it looks like back-room politics.”Owner Trigger Time LLc 01 FFL/NFA Saylorsburg, PA. Sales/Service/Transfers/Training
