So if you become one of the three listed above, what are your responsibilities and what not? I.E. is this a 8-5 job, do work X hours a month, do you just do periodical training in-case you get "called" upon to help the sheriff?

Just jumping in here...but a great perk would be...being able to carry a concealed handgun in all 50 states, including Maryland, NJ and even NYC...LEGALLY under the The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA).

Just wondering Dave...have you carried in any of the above places yet with your Sheriff's creds?

When I was younger I was a vol. fireman. It was sometimes a hassle. But it was also a lot of fun..

I will list one of the perks:

Your special Allegheny County Sheriff's Reserve credentials will in most cases let you carry your firearm in state buildings where normal Citizens use to be able to. I know County Sheriff's Reserve credentials work at the state capital building, just like they would for any other LEO. Because you would be sworn peace officer, just not a paid.

The last time I was at state capital building in May for HB 1845 lobbying efforts one of the guys with us had one, they made him lock his firearm in the locker. The officers when we picked our firearm up latter were all were apology that the newbie officer made him lock his firearm in the box. They stated it was standard policy for County Sheriff's Reserve credentials to be able to carry in capital building, the Only place I know it won’t be legal is in actual court rooms, no exemptions in laws except for actual courtroom officers to legally carry firearms.

    As a side note:
All three of these senior capital police officers, thanked us for our firearm lobby efforts, because they support and appreciate our efforts to keep their firearm rights as well.

They all went even further to state IF it was up to them, they would rather have any Citizen with a LTCF permit be able to carry anywhere in capital except the actual legislative chambers like it use to be.

Dave wish I knew you a couple of years ago would have taken you up on your offer, just to busy now to even make time for the training.

Here's a good dumb question. What kind of shape must you be in, and, is appearance important. I am not in the greatest shape (unless you consider round a shape) and have long facial hair.
