"New" S&W 5903 with range report.
Just picked this one up yesterday.
It is 15+1 capacity stainless slide, alloy frame 3rd generation S&W with adjustable sights. I've become a fan of these pistols in the last few years. Very underrated pistols that lost their appeal when Glocks were introduced. They have proven themselves to be utterly reliable pistols. This one is no different. Fired 60 shots today with no malfunctions of any type. The previous owner had the rear sight cranked way over the left. So I cranked it to the right some, then some more and ended up with this 7 yard target.
Looks like I could go up a couple clicks. Never the less it'll do.

The 3rd Gen Smiths are awesome. It makes me mad watching them continue to go up in rice, now that people have figured out how great they are. Thanks for sharing, Brother.

I have always liked that 59 series. That one looks pretty sweet. Nice soft shooter with all of that metal. I don't have one yet, but they're on the radar if I come across a nice one. I came across its undercover cousin, the cs-9 a few years ago at a local gun shop. I'd never seen one before so I got it. 7+1 single stack, bobbed hammer, compact and an accurate shooter. How can you not like them?

Well, you've either had the door open to my safe or like many on PAFOA, we're kindred spirits!
Folks hated the Model 59 and follow-on versions because it had more externals than internals and didn't come in "tacticool" black. But it locks up tighter than a drum and has no problems feeding all kinds of rounds.
There was a time when gun shops couldn't give those police trade-ins away, irrespective of the price...
Really glad to read your range report.
Hey, and good shooting too, BTW!- bamboomaster

Everything vintage S&W is going up. I'm glad I got my revolver collection about done. The couple left that I want were already expensive to begin with. Around here most of the 3rd gen guns seem to be right at $450, still a bargain IMO. The .45's a little more. The 10mm's, forget about a deal there. They're starting to get a cult like following for them.
Nice! I remember those days, very few people seemed to warm up to them. It was our loss.
Probably my most favorite S&W is this 2nd Generation 559. They say not many were made.

Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.

Great shooting.

Thanks buddy. I'll have to try one of those plastic Smiths someday. It might take me a few more years until I get into the 21st century technology. I'm still catching up on the 20th century stuff.
Always.....
A little motivator for you.
