I would like a recommendation for a revolver to take to the range.
And to use as a carry gun.

Re: revolver advice
Ex-police K frame. Model 10 or 64. These will take +P rounds if you want. Can obtain the FBI load (158 grain HP SWC) at times if you look. No "Hillary Hole" and made when S&W practiced excellent QC. 4" barrel will give you a range and a carry piece. No need for a 357 mag with this round. Dave_n

Re: revolver advice
Any 38sp j frame airweight and don't look back.
Functional, reliable, and accurate.
IMO a .357 is best served with a 4-6" barrel.
A 686 or 586 is a fine gun.
The trigger locks can be permanently disengaged.FUCK BIDEN

Re: revolver advice
Range guns and carry gums can be two very different things. If you plan on outside carrying not so much. For concealment a J or even K frame would make more sense IMHO than an L frame due to size and weight. Slitting the difference I'd probably go with a with a 2-4" K frame like the model 10, 15, or 19.

Re: revolver advice
Makes for a long range day. I've never met anybody who enjoys shooting more than 100 rounds through an airweight J frame. They're great for ccw, but they can be a bear to shoot for extended periods of time. If he wants to go the J Frame route, I'd recommend a 640, due to its all-steel construction. It'll help soak up some of the recoil, without really compromising ease and comfort of carry.
There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Re: revolver advice
New(er) S&W Model 60, 3" barrel. A 'tweener' size wise... large enough to shoot comfortably, small enough to carry with a little effort... 38 Special at the range, 357 Mag for carry (if you want).

Re: revolver advice
I shoot with and daily carry a Ruger SP101 2.25" .357 magnum. I made it less of a bear to shoot by putting on a Hogue monogrip which beefed up the size of the grip and softened it a bit.
Although I do shoot 38 special when I just want to plink and save money I think it's important to shoot a lot of .357 through it too, if I was ever in a SHTF situation I want muscle memory to kick in and not be startled by the kick.
It's a very concealable gun too.
