I can temporarily talk you out of it...Advanced Arms is closed for inventory through February 3rd.

As for the Ruger, it's worth the wait. My brother purchased one this fall. It's a great entry level 1911.

Haven't had mine for very long, or put thousands of rounds through it yet, but not a single complaint from me.

What are you planning on doing with it? HD? Carry? Range toy?

You have succeeded. You know I've got a "thang" for them

That looks sweet. Nice job on the upgrades.

Probably just a range toy. I know it doesn't stack up to more expensive options in terms of performance or finish, but Id like to make it through a few mags FTF and FTE free.

For a range toy? I say go for it. One of, if not the best values in "play" 1911s, in my opinion. It's a series 70, which makes it cool in my book. It has a cast frame, and a ton of MIM in it, but for the price they charge I don't have a problem with that. I would take it over any Kimber, that's for sure.

Love mine. I don't usually carry a 1911, but when I do, this one is it. For me, I need the bump out on the grip safety, and the extended thumb safety. Fit and finish is great, and imo great overall features for a stock 1911. I have the commander size.

I understand the drawbacks of this. Taking that into account, how will the SR1911 look for longevity. How many rounds before I break something. What are the chances of the slide cracking, or the pistol taking a shit on me?(not literally defecating on me for all you smart alicks)

For the record I am not trying to start a "bash ruger" thread either. Just trying to make an informed decision.
