Lycoming County Courthouse - Guns & Phones

In Stroudsburg you must check any phone that has a camera. No problem with phones without one. (Does that even exist anymore?) The explanation given was that they did not want photos taken inside because it was a privacy issue. I mentioned once to the guard that Channel 28 (Wilkes Barre) does not seem to have any ban on taking pics of folks inside and showing them on the air. He just shrugged and gave the "Just doing my job. No cameras" routine. Haven't there been Fed court decisions to the effect that the "main stream press" does not have any more priviliges tha the public; that we all have the right to gather info on the workings of our government?

Just us pee-ons. I was told judges, lawyers, cops, and staffers can have theirs with them although it seems they have to abide by the rules for use or risk their jobs.

In talking to a few people it seemed to be a problem with devices getting into the courtrooms and recording proceedings. I guess the signs and admonishments from the court were being ignored?

Private Detectives and Bail Bondsman as well.

It has a lot to do with the Drug Task Force, and the Agents thereof. Apparently they did not like having their photos taken and posted in social media outlets.

I am there often and the Security Guards have been taking a licking about the ban. Poor fellas'.
