Re: Carrying Double Action Revolver Cocked?
Almost all modern revolvers have a transfer bar to prevent this from happening. It's the reason you can safely carry a modern revolver fully loaded, while you'd want to carry an antique revolver hammer down on an empty chamber.
That's not to say that you shouldn't be as safe as possible in all aspects of firearms handling. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Re: Carrying Double Action Revolver Cocked?
Way back in the olden days lots of people would carry a wheel gun with the hammer over an empty chamber. No chance in hell of the hammer hitting a primer.

Re: Carrying Double Action Revolver Cocked?
You would be better off carrying a stick of dynamite with a lit 3 foot fuse.
Snip off the end just in time if you don't need it!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously though....... I wouldn't carry that way. Besides, the sound of you pulling the hammer back is enough to scare the crap out of a bad guy!!
Pulling a revolver from your holster means your mad. Cocking the hammer means your really FUCKING mad!!!With great power comes great responsibility....

Re: Carrying Double Action Revolver Cocked?
I didn't read all of the replies but I agree with the ones I have read, DO NOT carry with the revolver cocked, and as someone else said, do not practice self defense by cocking it.
The purpose of a double action revolver is specifically so you don;t have to carry it cocked and you don't have to cock it to shot it. If you're going to do that stuff, you may as well have gotten a single action revolver.

Re: Carrying Double Action Revolver Cocked?
I have a GP100 I bought from a member. Great shooter, has the springs changed and in the cocked position I think a gust of wind could fire it. D/A it is incredible.
