Question regarding handgun transfer from ny to pa father to son
Quick question, I'm sure it has been asked and I wanted a specific on transfer from ny to pa. My father has an old ww2 revolver that he is interested in transferring to me since it was my grandfathers. I live in pa, and he lives in NY. He has his permit in NY and I have mine in pa.
Since is it across the border, he would have to ship it to a ffl. Can he drive it without breaking federal laws? Also what are any other options since it is different states.
When making the transfer what information is needed?
I appreciate any help or information.

Contact the port authority and arrange a time and date for a short traffic halt. Meet him on the exact center of the bridge.

I would say he just brings it to your house and leaves it there. Now you both are in state. Why make it complicated.

It would be legal for him to drive to a range here as long as the handgun is not loaded. You could always meet there.

Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

I would have given/gifted my son the handgun while we were both PA residents because that would be perfectly legal and require no paperwork.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Question regarding handgun transfer from ny to pa father to son
Yeah, have him relocate here to Pa. The sooner the better. This Friday would be good for most folks. It's a lot more Freedom-friendly here. If he doesn't like it, he can always move back on Monday! Hand to hand transfer while he is still a resident here (on Saturday). I suppose someone should probably get the legal definition of 'resident' first. My definition goes something along the lines of , " I slept here, ate here, bought some stuff here, paid some taxes here, shit! I reside here!"

Stay out of trouble, use an FFL.

Re: Question regarding handgun transfer from ny to pa father to son
AFAIK Pa allows you to transport a handgun with a carry license from any other State and I don't know of any Federal laws that he would break by driving it here. So if he is lawful in driving it through NY he should be good to go if he brings it with him the next time he visits but you would still have to get the transfer done at a ffl.
