    Default BUIS Suggestions

    Hey all,

I've been doing some research before I jump on a set of back up iron sights but need some "professional" input.

I need some that are same plane to go on an AR pistol build. I've looked at offerings from Troy, Magpul, diamondhead, etc.

Seems as if the magpul buis or magpul buis pro would do the trick but there is a TON of fakes being produced that are typically well below par.

I like Matechs but they only zero for 200 yards....

Any suggestions would be great! What worked, what didn't....take everything into account: price , function, comparability with red dots, etc. Links are VERY MUCH appreciated.

I admittedly tried to cut a corner and bought a pair of knockoff troy sights on eBay...last time I make that mistake. Rear sight had a 20 degree wobble when erect...hehe...erect.

DD A1.5 for fixed, or MBUS/pro for folders. Hard to go wrong with either.

Get them from a reputable dealer, like Brownell's or Midway. They'll be real.

For a pistol I would not buy a bulky sight like the Troy, Diamonhead or plastic Mbus sights. The Mbus Pros are pretty compact and thin. Though I still like a non bulky BUIS on my rifles too.

DSG is one of the largest Magpul dealers in the country, I ordered from them numerous times. Magpul just released an Mbus Pro rear sight with adjustable elevation also. Though for a pistol you really don't need to screw with elevation on the rear.

What do you think of these? The only bad review came from someone who didn't know what they were ordering (they thought these were not same plane).

Pretty sure they're real. Compared to fake photos.

You can do more with a Matech than a 200 yd zero. With an M4 IIRC you can turn the elevation to 300 and zero elevation by moving the fsp. Zero windage on the sight itself. Make sure the 300 isn't bumped, aka don't dick with the knob.

DSG has the largest selection of Magpul I've seen. They are great people also. I have a set of DD fixed BUIS on my 7.5" and a set of folding Troys on my 10.3". Both work good for me. I do suggest to stay away from the Diamondhead poly's. The Nitebrite is great but they are bulky and just didn't feel right, especially on a pistol.
