Default Keep and Convert or Sell and buy new?

I have a conundrum I thought I'd get some opinions on. I'm looking at consolidating calibers and getting out of .40 S&W. I'm trying to decide what to do with my G27, I stippled it and removed the finger groves myself which I'm guessing killed the resell value, but really feels good in my hand. So now I'm stuck with either convert it to 9mm with a conversion barrel/mags. Possibly changing the extractor assembly as well from what I've been reading. Buy an entire G26 upper assembly. Or sell/trade it for a G26.

If it was still a stock out of box 27 it'd be a no brainer to just sell off and get a 26, but with the work done to it I'm not sure which is the better option.

You'd probably take a beating so buying a barrel, mags, ejector, and extractor may put you in the same ballpark as said beating. The work isn't hard to do and maybe finding a used barrel will soften the blow...

My converted G23 ran perfectly with the 40 ejector and extractor, so maybe just the barrel and mags? Don't know about that set up on a carry gun....

Got a pic of the stippling job??

If the grip feels good to you then buy the conversion barrel, mags, and extractor.

meh, since he already stippled it to fit his hand im going to have to disagree. A barrel wouldn't cost more than $125, and another 25 for a 9mm mag, so he can have what he wants for about $150.

OTOH, if he were to sell it, he would take a serious hit, if he could even get anything for it, chances are slim that a shop would buy a gun with a homemade hack job. Even for just a used G27, top dollar is about $300 used, more for private sale. New glocks are about $500, so there's at least a $200 difference.

$150<$200, and now you have 2 ammo options. Just my opinion.

If I had gone through the trouble of customizing/modifying a hand gun so it fit me better etc I don't think I'd bother selling it. For me I'd go the conversion avenue. This also leaves you the option down the road to return to 40 cal should the mood hit you.

Convert it you most likely can find the barrel and mags used on gunbroker if not I have seen most glock factory mags going for as low as $19.99 and PSA is making replacement barrels for Glocks in the $99.00 ball park along with lone wolf. I would also reccomend doing the extractor for over all reliability.

You can also get a few factory mags for Concealed carry and then Grabbing a few KCI G19 mags for the range and fun, the newer metal lined ones have all worked great for me including the 33 rounders. G19 & G17 KCI metal lined mags can be found new for as low as $8 or $9.00ea.

Post a 'want to trade' your G27 complete upper for a G26 complete upper.

Maybe there is someone out there that is in the same boat you are in.

If you get no action, sell the complete upper on gunbroker.com and buy the complete upper from a G26.

For me, conversion barrels are for fun at the range. I would need to put quite a few rounds through a particular one in my gun to feel comfortable relying on it.

OP is going to take a serious hit taking the "sell" route, if for no other reason that you can't f__king GIVE a .40 S&W anything away in western and central PA. Stores/dealers are chock full of them, and 40s. Aren't. Selling.

Look for G26 slide/barrel assembly. You can sell your .40 slide assembly but it may be something good to keep on hand for a rainy day.
