    Default Berks Jury Duty Question

I am sorry if this has been asked before but i have a question regarding carrying and jury duty. I got called for jury duty and i know the court house provides lockers for firearms. Is the Berks County Services Center the same thing as the Reading Court House, in that they have to provide lockers as well?

Any place defined as a "court facility" is required by law to provide storage. The applicable statute defines a "court facility" as follows:

"Court facility." The courtroom of a court of record; a courtroom of a community court; the courtroom of a magisterial district judge; a courtroom of the Philadelphia Municipal Court; a courtroom of the Pittsburgh Magistrates Court; a courtroom of the Traffic Court of Philadelphia; judge's chambers; witness rooms; jury deliberation rooms; attorney conference rooms; prisoner holding cells; offices of court clerks, the district attorney, the sheriff and probation and parole officers; and any adjoining corridors.

They consider it all the same place, so the lockers are in the old courthouse side. They had been talking about putting lockers on the service center side as well, but I have still not seen any over there.

Use the main courthouse entrance, lock up your gun, then use the bridge between the buildings on floors 3, 4 & 5.

Great to hear. I have gotten so accustomed to going in through the main courthouse entrance that I have not checked over at the service center for a while.

Any door you walk in, whether old court house or newer services center..... Just tell one of the security guys that you need to lock up a firearm, and they'll take you to the lock-ups.
