Anything going on as far as PA knife laws?
HB2548 died years ago and I haven't heard anything that replaced that bill.
Are PA knife laws going to remain back in the stone age?Socialist Liberals Suck!

I've heard nothing at all. As hard has it was to get pre-emption with teeth (and that still took riding on another bill), I doubt anything will happen for years.
We have the laziest legislature this side of the nut house. They won't do anything. We can't even get away from state run liquor stores!

Any where quick where we can get a list of the knife laws? Other then knowing no knives of any kind in the Kingdom of Philly I don't know any others.

Thanks found this and it looks like a web of guessing games and issues if one were to be carrying a knife that has no real definition like a dagger. Daggers are typically viewed as a double edged knife but not all double edged knifes are daggers like some Bowie knives.
It says daggers are illegal to carry as well as own which I find kind of disturbing. There are many WWI & WWII collectable military daggers out there. I find it riddiciolus that I could not legally own something like this yet I can have an M60 in my closet as long as I pay the freight.(which not complaining about)
This really is something that needs to be corrected and clearly defined but I am sure that is theres no where near the attention if any at all that firearms do from 2A supporters and enthusiasts. I guess the liberals leave on the back burner for something to do incase they were to ever get firearms banned and confiscated.(not that they ever will)Last edited by Hodgie; January 12th, 2015 at 11:45 PM.

Re: Anything going on as far as PA knife laws?
I really like knives and wish autos were okay. I don't see a difference with the spring assist I have but don't say it too loud or they'll be next. I've had an interest in weaponry ever since I was a kid. The designs and use, everyday tools that were put into action. The laws, the rumors and misinformation is too much to chance

Re: Anything going on as far as PA knife laws?
It has always bothered me that edged weapons were not considered "arms" in a Second Amendment sort of way. I know they were at the time of the writing of the US Constitution.
Be safe (and make a good point).

18 PACS 908 is the controlling statute at the state level. There is some good case law as well, some which is listed here.

However
Without preemption you also have to navigate a plethora of local laws as every borough, town, township, city, county, village, and wide spot in the road can have their own local ordinances.
The initial enthusiastic efforts to change this died some years ago for a variety of reasons. I'll just cite intractable legislators and an entrenched old boy network. More detail would involve several old PAFOA pissing matches.
The experience was instrumental in finally convincing me that the system cannot be fixed from within and those who try not only do not succeed but become part of the problem. If you don't know who your state legislators are go here:
