Looking for semi auto .22
A friend of mine is looking for a .22 semi auto pistol to teach his daughter how to handle a handgun and also for target shooting. He's looking for something under $500. What is a good gun to get?

Re: Looking for semi auto .22
I had a Ruger Mark II that was a nice pistol however, it was a pain to take apart and clean. Currently I have a Beretta Neos and I think it is a great gun. I have thousands of rounds through my Beretta with no problems.
Shyda's Gun Shop in Lebanon sells Beretta Noes for a little over 200.
If you are lucky you can find a used Mark II for under 200.

Re: Looking for semi auto .22
If your friend has a Glock, a nice option is to get the Advantage Arms .22LR conversion kit. This way she gets to handle, aim, and shoot a real gun ("real" as in: like a service caliber weapon).
Also it's not legally a "firearm" so you can just order one over the Internet.Last edited by dgg9; July 9th, 2008 at 09:25 AM.

Re: Looking for semi auto .22
That's putting it lightly. Ruger .22s are fantastic little guns but they are absolutely TERRIBLE to field strip.
To the OP, if you are considering getting a Ruger, do yourself a favor and pick up a speed strip kit to go with it. You'll be oh so glad that you did.
