    Default 2yr old shoots Mom!

    http://6abc.com/news/police-boy-2-ac...l-mart/455593/

Can't help but think stories like this is why public places have NO GUN signs.

Bet ya the womans family will sue , claiming that if Walmart had NO GUNS signs on the doors , this wouldn't have happened.

Makes me wonder of the gun was in a secure holster or just loose in the purse.

Exactly my first thought. If it were in a holster, how could it have been fired?

These are the kind of details that would help protect people in the future, but that the media cares so little about that they do not either think to ask or care to publish if they know.

Obviously , there was a big FAIL. Perhaps several.

Keeping a pistol in a holster in a purse would make thing slow if it was needed. But we first need to know what gun it was. Was it a single action auto carried cocked & locked and the safety got knocked off. Was it a revolver that somehow got cocked? Lots of junk in most women's purses. Gripe as we might about the heavy triggers on most SD pistols like a KelTec , Ruger LCP , S&W Bodyguard or the like , this is what those heavy triggers are meant to prevent.

MY wife sometimes carries in a purse designed for that purpose. I am not a fan.

For a purse or bag, I was thinking something more like this:

But everything you are wondering is exactly what the story should be telling us. Let us know what she did wrong so we can show it to the next woman carrying a gun in her purse with nothing protecting the trigger.

Likewise with my wife. She has a purse with a separate zippered pouch and built-in holster. None of the other crap floating around her purse goes in there, so the weapon is alone and secure.

Finding the spare magazines, though... Well, she knows to just dump the bag's contents if it's that kind of situation.

I was wondering how a two year old could pull the trigger on most guns.

The how and why won't matter. It's a sad occurrence and the anti's will probably make the most of it. I'd imagine all the deaths and serious injuries caused by horses helped the auto industry take off too. Life is and always has been a risk. All we can do is try to control and minimize the risks. But things will happen. A no guns sign on a door is an effort to minimize a risk like this event. If the bullet had missed Mom and hit another shopper, the suit would name Mom and Walmart (deep pockets) I would presume. In fact, in today's weird world, I'll bet the surviving spouse could sue Walmart for not posting a no guns sign.

ETA...surviving spouse? Perhaps I am un-PC by assuming there is one?

This will be bad. Now Walmart is going to get hit over the head by every anti worth their salt.
