    Default Private transfer question

If I'm selling a handgun (which I legally purchased in PA) to another PA resident, I know I need to do it through an FFL dealer. Question is, do I need to show a receipt from original purchase?

    No.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

This may be a stupid question but I've never seen it addressed. I know that parent to child transfers of a pistol are legal in pa without an FFL transfer but is it still legal if they are your stepchild?

I'd only do it if you adopted your spouse's child...but then they wouldn't really be your stepchild. Just because he/she is a child dependent for IRS/healthcare purposes doesn't mean they are your child.

The applicable definition for the Uniform Firearms Act - 1 Pa CS §1991:

"Child" or "children." Includes children by birth or adoption.

I did not give birth to either of the people that I call my "children" and I did not adopt them. My wife did the birth part.
