California has mountain lions, EVERYONE knows that. Yet, 99.99999999% will NEVER see one, wouldn't know one if they did catch a glimpse, would find a paw print and swear it was a bear or coyote, and will tell you there aren't any.

Does Pa have big cats? Yes, I believe we do. And so does BigFoot, he told me so!!!
I think it's well known PA has rattlesnakes. We even have a rattlesnake roundup in Morris, PA near here. They like to sun themselves on the Pine Creek Gorge rails to trails which makes for a surprise sometimes for bikers and hikers.

Waiting for it. Someone is going to post something here. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.

    Except it's not.

I've seen nine mountain lions in PA in my lifetime. None in the wild, however...

There was one at the Philadelphia Zoo named Hercules. It died many years ago.

There are two at Zoo America in Hershey.

There were three at the Elmwood Park Zoo near Norristown. I gave the zoo a donation and in return they let my wife be a zookeeper for a day one year for her birthday. She has actually held (and fed) cougar cubs.

A guy my dad used to shoot with when I was a kid had three in cages that he and his wife nursed back to health. I believe they turned them over to other zoos. They were definitely not pets, nor were they released into the wild.

So yes, there are mountain lions in PA, and they're not that hard to find.

I figured it wasn't quite outrageous or implausible enough to be him, but the the resulting thread does have a certain flavor of some of his infamous work.

Mostly I couldn't resist the temptation to try to come up with a vaguely relevant acrostic.

The cougars in FL are mostly geriatric and can't see or hear very well. That's why they get hit by cars
