Pistol Trade-ins at PA shops
Just curious if anyone here has ever traded in a pistol at a gun shop recently. Is the trade-in value they give generally pretty ridiculous, or fairly reasonable considering the convenience?
Yes, I know, I know, I could just ask at my shop (Tanners/CP), and every shop might be different, but I'm sitting here in front of my 'puter with nothing else to do. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.Almost a LIB .... ertarian

Re: Pistol Trade-ins at PA shops
Your going to get about half the price of what the gun is worth.
I sold to a shop not traded and was given about $300 when it was well worth $450-$500.
Think of it as pawning your firearm. Your never going to get what it is worth.Last edited by PA1936MN; December 28th, 2014 at 12:24 PM.

Re: Pistol Trade-ins at PA shops
The gun new was around $700. So if I was going to sell it on the forums I'd of asked for $500 at the very least considering it was only a couple years old with only a few hundred rounds through it. However when you sell on the forum you will wait and wait for that buyer. At the shop they will give you their offer right then and there and it's time to lets make a deal.

yes. every shop is different.
yes, the shop you mentioned will be fair.
no, they will not sell it for 699, even though you paid 700.
other shops with in driving distance of them will offer half of what they offer.
sell it privately.
what is the gun in question?

Re: Pistol Trade-ins at PA shops
I'd expect them to have sold mine for around $500 even though they offered me only $300.
So I should have sold it on the forums and pocketed another $200 but I couldn't wait for a buyer I needed the money right then and there. So I lost out.
Never again will I sell to a shop unless I have to and nor will I ever again buy from a big box store unless it is one hell of a deal.

Re: Pistol Trade-ins at PA shops
I recently did a consignment deal with a shop that i purchased a new gun from and it worked out better than i expected. Got more than i would for a trade in and what easier place to sell a gun than where people come looking for one.
