I've nothing against 40s&w. But if i'm taking a step up from 9mm I'm sticking with 10mm. I dont know of any auto cartridge that is more versatile(except maybe 45 super but good luck finding it)

While no brand or model represents a "handgun nirvana", IMO it is beyond argument that the glock mid size frame, regardless of caliber, comes very close "out of the box".

I shot a 23 Gen 3 once, I liked it a lot. And if you shoot it like Robby Leatham shoots a 1911 than its the perfect gun. I think many gun people (not referring to anyone in specific) worry too much about what others think. I'm not a Glock fan nor a .40 owner but I share your appreciation.

So what LOL? It's still a pistol shooting a pistol caliber.

They suck with WMLs attached, don't run for shit. The NIBX Gen 3 23 is arguably the worst Glock ever.

    Arguably....a good qualifier, indeed.

I have fired hundreds of rounds through my G23 with a light attached and never once had a failure. Weird.

Apparently if your mag spring is weak, weapon lights can cause issues on gen 3 Glocks in calibers other than 9mm. Only a problem for people who don't maintain their gear.

I have a 23 and a 27, both gen 4, with plans to get a 22 as well. I went with .40 because when the panic happened, that's what was on the shelf. Conversion barrels get you into 9 and .357 sig for extra versatility.

My 17 is mostly a target pistol for me. I do have carry ammo for it, but the 23 gets the nod more often than not. The recoil is not that big of a deal. Any bump in energy dumped into the bad guy is worth whatever extra recoil there is, although I agree that 9mm is just fine with modern hollow points.

OK sorry, NIBX GEN3 Glock 23 is the worst piece of shit Glock I've ever seen/handled in my life.

You are lucky Chemical, each of the 23s I've handled had a history of choking on 180gr ammo with attachments, but not 165 or lighter. Remove the light and they run.

( ETA these were newish guns with good mags. They would not run 180gr ammo. Gear was maintained.)

So what you're saying is; a pistol is meant to get you to a rifle?
