    The Pennsylvania State Police is experiencing a statewide outage affecting all state police Internet-based systems, plus email and telephone systems at department headquarters in Harrisburg.

    In a press release, state police said that the Pennsylvania Instant Check System for licensed firearm retailers, and the Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History public site to obtain criminal history record checks are unavailable due to the outage.

    The estimated down time is at least six hours, police said.

    The press release did not offer a reason for the outage, and calls to the state police press office were met with a busy signal.

    Yet another example of why we should do away with PICS and NICS.

    It would be interesting to see the downtime numbers for PICS under Rendell and Corbett. I know there was some chatter during the Rendell years of it being down a lot, especially on large gun show weekends.

    Worked for me at 13:00 - no problem - in and out in 15 minutes, including time to examine my purchase and pay for it.
