State police have spent several years investigating a 2012 Clinton County burglary and trying to track down a number of guns stolen there. On Dec. 8, police charged Christopher Chase Hall, 29, Galeton, for 12 counts of receiving stolen property. Hall is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Jan. 13 before Wellsboro Magisterial District Judge Rob Repard.

A state police investigator stationed in Lamar says that Hall was in possession of 12 firearms stolen in 2012 in Clinton County. Hall reportedly sold them to Niles Guns and Gold, Wellsboro, and Ackley and Son's, Westfield. Galeton Police Department reportedly found one of the stolen guns, a Winchester .22, in Hall's possession Jan. 18, 2013. Hall reportedly told police he bought 20 guns for $100 apiece, not knowing they were stolen, from two men whom he knew only as "Ben" and "Boots." State police have reportedly recovered many of the stolen guns by contacting buyers throughout the state.
