How long to get concealed permit?
I am waiting for the local police check card, which they said would take a few days to complete. Next, I go to the Mont-co sheriff's office to fill out the application and make payment. Does anyone know whether they issue on the spot, or od I have to wait further?
Thanks!

What is a "local police check card"?
I never heard of such a thing. The sheriff is supposed to do any background checks, not the local police.

I have no clue as to what you are talking about "local police check card".
I walk into the township building, fill out the paper, they take my picture, I hand them a check for $45 and two weeks later my CCW Card shows up in the mail.
It almost sounds like they are creating rules/policy where they are not suppose to be.

Re: How long to get concealed permit?
Two years ago in greensburg it took about 15 minutes. Came in filled out the paperwork they asked a few questions, took my picture and I had my card hot off the press as I left. It was amusing though when I went through the metal detectors I kept setting off the alarm and couldn't figure out why. It turns out that the metal lid on a can of skoal caused it to set off after my third time setting it off we figured that out .
No friend ever served me, and no enemy ever wronged me, whom I have not repaid in full

Re: How long to get concealed permit?
That's what I wanted to hear! As it stands it's a pain to go to the range. I'm afraid I might get caught by a LEO coming from a friend's house, late at night, when no range is open. As I understand PA law, unless I have a concealed permit, I can only transport in the car trunk, to and from the range.

Re: How long to get concealed permit?
I got my permit back in April, and I needed to have Royersford's Police Chief fill out this piece of paper. I got it back the next day, but I didn't care for the fact the Police chief wrote in BIG RED LETTERS..that I was charged with AGGRAVATED ASSAULT when I was 19 stemming from a fist fight..but pleaded down to simple assault back then. I was told this Police Chief was kind of a d*ck from numerous people.
My permit took 2 weeks, cause they investigated the simple assault charge I assume.
I was also told by the sheriffs office that.. since I live in an area that has a Police force..this piece of paper needed to be filled out. Now If I still lived in Skippack..this wasn't necessary, cause my information would go through PSP instead.
