Default Why are some pistols unnecessarily thick?

It seems to me that some pistol makers produce pistols that are unnecessarily thick. CZ for example produces pistols such as the RAMI, P07 (Thicker than a Sig P229 with same capacity as G19!), P09 that are all thicker than comparable options. Sig Sauer also--some of their new "subcompact" options are just too thick to realistically be carried well. Caveat: I realize widths differ according to capacity sometimes, but I'm speaking just of pistols that are overly thick without capacity advantage. Sometimes I simply look at the width of the pistol around the breech to get a grasp of how thick the pistol is overall.

Ten rounds of 9mm in this thick of a pistol?

Durability, realiability, weight for reduced recoil, not every gun is created with the CC in mind, more so of the real world situations the gun might encounter by real use

why theyre so many options out there, for YOU to pick from that suits your needs and preferences

All steel double stack pistols are always pretty damn thick. I don't see CZ Changing that any time soon.

I've heard that the black ones are usually thicker.

I don't have a problem with thick ones.

I meant guns, you pervs. But it's weird: the baby Glocks fell thicker than the full size ones do. I went to a local shop to pick up a few, and I liked the 17 the best. The 26 felt too thick for being so small. It's weird though how the XD manages to get more rounds in their guns than Glock, but feels slimmer. Our neighbor has an XDm, a full size 9mm, and it holds close to 20 rounds in it.

The baby Glocks are just short and stubby so you notice the thickness. A G17 and G19 are the same thickness as the G26. What the short grip of the G26 sized Glocks does is put the bump in the grip at a different spot in your hand so it feels different.

Browning Hi Powers are all steel and noticeably slimmer than most, but I suppose they're kind of obscure today. Ironic for being one of if not the most prolific pistols in history that they're not often even brought up in conversation much.
