    Default 45acp Crushed Mouth Case

I just purchased a new Regent 350CR. I read many favorable reviews on this site which lead me to the purchase (along with the price).
I had no FTF on my first outing, but did have 4 cases out of 50 that the case mouth was crushed. Any thoughts on this?
I have never had that happen with my Ruger P90 or any of my 9mms.
    Thank you
    Phil

Did you try different brands of ammo? Factory or reloaded ammo?

I used to get crushed cases with my beltfed fifty. It was due to too much lube in the buffer, which in turn short stroked the bolt, which crushed the case on ejection. Sounds like its getting caught during ejection.

    Thank you for your responses.
I believe that I may have over lubed the slide.
This was new PMC ammo. I will get out late this week and try some reloads.

    Buster,
Thank you for the links, they are very informative.

That isn't why the case mouth is getting crushed. Any way you can post a pic to see how bad it's crushed? That pistol has what appears to be a GI ejection port, though it may be lowered a bit...I can't tell from the pics I looked at and don't remember from holding it.

The port definitely isn't 'flared' or 'relieved' (beveled), so you are going to get dented cases from time to time. It's no big deal as long as it is functioning correctly and spitting the brass at a reasonable distance. I'd be curious to also see the case rim on the dented cases. If you have heavy claw marks on them, your extractor may be too tight.

    Lube that sucker, BTW.

Take the slide off and slip an empty case in the extractor. Once it's in, it should wiggle a little without falling out. I prefer very little wiggle, but I want it to move, some. Judging by the rims of the cases, your extractor is too tight and it is really get slung when it gets ejected. That would explain why the dents are as bad as they are. They are tagging the edge of the ejection port, hard, and it's a square edge.
